Information for 2009-2010 School Year

First Day of School:
Friday, August 7, 2009.

Daily Schedule:
School begins at 7:20 a.m. and ends at 2:24 p.m.  If you must check out your child, please do so before 2:00 p.m.

School Office Hours:
The school office is open from 6:50 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. daily.  To schedule an appointment with an administrators or counselor, please call the office. Due to office and duty assignments, these appointments will be scheduled after 7:40 a.m.

Teacher Conferences:

The school office is open from 6:50 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. daily.  Conferences with teachers will be scheduled by telephoning the main office. (665-8259) Conferences will be scheduled Monday – Thursday after school at 2:30 or during planning periods. No conferences will be scheduled on Fridays.

Payments:

Payments made to Westside Jr. High must be in the form of a check or money order and should include Full name, current street address, and home phone number must be included on the check. Please also include the the student's name somewhere on the check.

Buses:
If your child rides a bus, please go to http://www.lpsb.org and find the icon Click Here to Find School Attendance Zones. 

Carpool:
If your child rides carpool, please drop and pick him/her off at the designated area near the front of the cafeteria. For the safety of your children, please do not drop off students on campus before 6:55 a.m., as there are no teacher on duty at this time.  The bell will ring at 2:23 p.m. for afternoon carpool.

Lunch:
Free/reduced lunch forms are passed out the first day of school.  Students are encouraged to pay in advance; however, they may pay for lunch as they go in the cafeteria each day.  Checks should be made to Westside Jr. High.  Full name, current street address, and home phone number must be included on the check with the student's name included somewhere on the check.  Change is not given.
Prices are:     Breakfast      $1.00        Lunch        $1.60
                       Reduced         $ .30        Reduced     $ .40
Bagged lunches are permitted. However, students may not bring canned, bottled, or carbonated beverages.

Fees:
Student activity fee will be $20.00.  Students who take physical education will pay $20.00 for their uniform. (This includes one t-shirt and one pair of shorts.) Band fee will be $35.00. Additional fees may be requested by content areas such as  science.

Textbooks:
Students are assigned a set of textbooks to keep at home.  These books must be returned at the end of the year or if your child transfers out of Westside Junior High during the year.

Additional Information:

Students will not be allowed to receive flowers, balloons, etc. at school.

Assignment Request:

Assignment requests must be made by 8 A.M., in order for the assignments to be gathered by 2:30 P.M. It is recommended that for daily absences you visit the teacher's webpage for assignments.
