How to become a Bus Driver for Livingston Parish Public Schools

If you are interested in becoming a Substitute Bus Driver you must do the following:

1.  All Substitutes must complete the Substitute Application packet.  To complete  an application from  our website click HERE All applications must be submitted online now.

2.  You must email  fingerprints@lpsb.org or call 225-686-4369 to schedule an appointment for your background check and submit required documentation and pay initial processing fee. As a part of the scheduled appointment, all applicants will be fingerprinted ($55 Processing fee). This will take a minimum of thirty (30) minutes. Only completed applications will be processed.

3.  Complete a training course given by LPPS Transportation Department. The training course will be offered multiple times a year and the date will be published on this page. You will need to register for the course before attending. 

4.  There are other steps that must be completed after the class that will be explained the first night of class. They can not be completed until after you have finished the class.

Once you have completed all of the requirements you must bring all your paperwork to the Transportation Department to be Certified as a Substitute Bus Driver. Full time routes are filled from our approved substitute bus driver list once a year during the summer.

SUBSTITUTE BUS DRIVER TRAINING COURSE 

Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent (must provide proof)
21 years of age minimum
Acceptable driving record
Criminal background check
Pre-employment drug screen
CDL Physical Exam

The substitute bus driver training course is a class given by LPPS Transportation Department to interested persons wanting to become a substitute bus driver with Livingston Parish Public Schools. The course is mandatory and is held multiple times a year. The next class will be held beginning September 5, 2017 to September 15, 2017 from 5-9PM  . You must attend every class, no make ups will be offered for this class.  It will be held in the Transportation Department Conference Room at Livingston Parish Public Schools Central Office located at 13909 Florida Blvd. Livingston, LA.  You must have completed and submitted your substitute packet form and have been fingerprinted prior to attending the class.  If you have any questions please contact the Transportation Department at LPPSTransportation@LPSB.ORG  or call (225)686-4203.
