What has been the most rewarding moment during your time on the school board so far?

Being able to witness  first-hand the daily commitment of our Livingston Parish Public School System administration, faculty, and staff to educate our children, love them, encourage them, and work crazy hours to get it done.   It is so impressive seeing it up close and personal.

What do you enjoy most about interacting with students, staff, or the community?

I love the engagement and obvious devotion to our mission of preparing students for a lifetime of learning, and leading in the days ahead.  Whether a student, staff member, or a treasured member of our community, they all are quick to volunteer to help us get the job done well.

What leadership value guides you when making difficult decisions?

What is best for the students is to ensure we provide all with an equal opportunity to realize their full potential all while supporting the folks that make it happen.

What is one priority you’re especially passionate about right now?

Building tools to provide transparency into our effective stewardship of stakeholder funding in achieving our shared goals of quality education for our students.

How can educators and community members best partner with the school board?  

They can do this with open, respectful communication and engagement in support of the shared mission of creating a great learning experience for tomorrow’s leaders.

What is something most people don’t know about you?

My bride of 47 years, Barbara, and I have enjoyed mission work together in places like our neighborhood, the homeless shelters in our local area, children ministries in Ecuador, orphanages in Romania, and summer Bible Camps in the remote areas of Alaska where we prepped facilities for summer sessions.  We love serving with others as we serve Him and them.
